INTEGRATED NUTRITION PROGRAMS

New-ways goal is to improve the health and wellness of children through nutrition , physical activity, disease prevention in Under nutrition of children under five years old (CU5) ,The Targeted Supplementary Feeding programme aims to rehabilitate children under five years old as well as pregnant and lactating women (PLW),identified as acutely malnourished.
NWO is implementing MCHN, with main objectives are to prevent & reduce anemia, stunting ,wasting & improve awareness & knowledge among pregnant/lactating women & children in addition to better accessing & utilization of health nutrition services in Barawe and Marka districts In Lower Shabelle Region of Somalia.
NWO BSFP program is intended for under 3 children who are at risk of becoming malnourished and its primary objectives are to prevent acute malnutrition that occurs among vulnerable groups, reduce incidence of acute malnutrition by providing adequate dietary intake and routine treatment and reduce excess mortality among those at-risk of malnutrition
NWO Our main objective of IYCF Program is to improve the nutritional status, growth, development, and survival of infants and young children through promotion and support for optimal infant and young child feeding practices.

NWO DAYAH Hospital center is one of six such specialized inpatient facilities in Barawe district and five throughout Marka and Mogadishu, that UNICEF supports in order to provide treatment to severely malnourished children suffering from medical complications.to provide a high standard of promoting optimum health and preventive health care, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient and effective service to patients
NWO aims to strengthen the delivery of basic health and essential nutrition and water and sanitation services in the Area..
NWO : BSFP program is intended for under 3 children who are at risk of becoming malnourished and its primary objectives are to prevent acute malnutrition that occurs amongst vulnerable groups, reduce incidence of acute malnutrition by providing adequate dietary intake and routine treatment, and reduce excess mortality among those at-risk of malnutrition and to reduce excess morbidity among those at-risk of malnutrition,818 pregnant and lacating mothers received CSB and Vegetable oil while 3045 under 3 children did not receive any plumpy doz due to lack of plumpy doz in our stock balance and there was no receipt of plumpy Doz for the past 3 months
During the distribution mothers were educated on the importance of CSB and Plumpy sup which is supplementary food. The mothers were told that the CSB and Plumpy Sup is supplementary food meant to treat beneficiaries with Moderate Acute Malnutrition i.e. children 6-59 months and pregnant and lactating mothers.The mothers were also educated on best hygiene practices at home. I.e. the critical times of hand washing with soap and running water. Mothers were also educated on proper garbage disposal I.e. burning into garbage disposal drums, placing into pits etc Mothers were also advised to put up leaky tins and soaps for hand washing purposes at their homes Mothers were also educated on the importance of breastfeeding. Mothers were advised to exclusively breast feed their children for the first six month. They were also told the importance of breast milk to the child.
